Happy Birthday!!!

Hope turned four years old on Saturday! We had a party at the house to celebrate. Hope LOVES to dress up, so she decided she wanted to have a costume party. It was pretty cute seeing all these little characters running around!

Being Sheepish to Being a Sheep

Hope performed two songs along with her peers at church on Sunday. Being that she is normally super outgoing and because she performed last year with her group, I didn't prep her a whole lot for the experience. When the kids started filing in, I could see that we were in trouble. Steph (who was sitting right in front of us) tried to help out by encouraging her to join in the fun, but she just wasn't having it. If I am being totally honest, I have to admit that at first I was feeling kind of bummed- with my family visiting church that day and the video camera running and all. I was trying to point out her friends around her, so she could see how "fun" this was. At one point during the first song, she left the stage and came to us in the audience. She made her way to me, with arms stretched wide and on the verge of tears, saying "Mommy, I'm scared". I gave her a hug and kissed her on the head. In that moment it didn't matter to me that the show hadn't gone as planned. What mattered was that my little one was struggling and she turned to me to feel better. Since Sunday, I have thought about this over and over again. This situation made me think about my relationship with our Heavenly Father. I can just imagine Him watching me, as I walk (awkwardly, at times) through life. I'd like to think that He's looking at me, the way I looked at Hope on Sunday- with full confidence in her ability and with open arms to embrace her whenever she feels scared.
As it turned out, she ended up going back up to the stage and performed the second song perfectly.

I am so blessed by my little girl, and I am really thankful for what God teaches me through her everyday.

Memory Lane

We went to my nephew's 8th birthday party on Saturday. They had his party at Tiffany's Skate Inn. This was very cool for two reasons. The first being that Hope had never been roller skating before! It was so cute to see her in the same brown boot/ orange wheeled skates that I also learned to skate in many years ago.
The second fun thing about this, was that this was the location of my very first job! I started working at Tiffany's (in the concession stand)when I was fifteen years old. I thought that it was the best job EVER! I got to hang out with my friends, listen to loud music, and get paid for it! What more could a fifteen year old ask for!?! It was fun to see how things had changed, and how some things were exactly the same (ex: the circular carpet covered benches and the ever present smell of Lysol in the air!).
We had a good time... making new memories all while stROLLING down memory lane.

Behind the Times

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I am always behind when it comes to technology. Not only have I not been one to run out and buy the latest and greatest, but I literally wait until I can't purchase things anymore. For example, I played my records and then cassette tapes forever. Seriously, I had to go out and buy a CD player, because I could no longer buy my music on cassette! With that being said, I stumbled into the world of myspace this last year. I initially just wanted to see a friends pictures, and had to create a space to do so. After being on there a bit, I'd have to say that it was kind of fun. Since then, I have been introduced to some great blogs that I really like reading. I enjoy reading my friends perspective on things & it is so much fun to keep up to date on the happenings in their everyday life. So here I am, creating my very first blog! I'm feeling so hip and current, like so 2002!(stop laughing!) With all this advancement- who knows, I may even look down the iPod aisle this year. =0)
